this morn we woke up to this and decided to cancel col's hernia surgery due to a big storm forecast. not an easy decision. so many unknowns. in the end we figured he's not in pain so we'd keep us all safe and not trudge out and add more stress to an already slightly tense situation. ...only to get rescheduled for another 2 weeks.

so i called my mom and dad to tell them brett would pick up the bigger boys within the hour. they had stayed the night to make our morning easier. (love my parents for their last minute offer) they freaked at the thought, my mother included. (love my parents for impromtu sleepovers my boys never want to leave) so there they stay for another night. (WOO-HOO!) yet it always feels really weird walking past their door when they should be home.

last night i took all the cereals that col will actually eat, breakfast & granola bars, and cups out of the cabinet and put the yogurts way back in the fridge since i knew he would wake his usual famished self. not being able to eat after midnight and having every intention to follow through today i couldn't risk him helping himself. i get points for that too because he did wake asking to eat, i believe it was the first words out of his mouth. even though he was allowed then, he did escape, rummage through and found an expired jellied fruit cup way back in the cabinet. didn't like it but still.

it continued to snow as forecasted and we were happy with our decision all morning.

colin was happy he had no other boys to follow, compete or bicker with and actually sat down a long time and crafted.

we did our usual snow day thing minus the bundling up of children. boys had their gear at grandma and pop's.

col's now been pain free for 2 consecutive days so maybe the next 2 weeks will go by a bit quicker than This. Entire. Winter! only then will we be 100% confident in our decision to put things off. as of 2pm we were figuring we could have done it unscathed. even so, we ended up having a relaxing, (thank you GM and Pop!) (snowblowing 4hrs is relaxing right?) stress free snow day.

ANOTher snow day tomorrow. this is getting ridiculous.

Visions of Snow Days, really, make me homesick. Can't duplicate that feeling down here, and it's been a long time. So, the memories from way back when come rushing back, and make me want to creat new ones with my Nephews - and my Wife, who's NEVER seen anything like it.

Miss,

Uncle Kevin

We'll keep our fingers crossed for a pain-free 2 weeks for C. Are the "big boys" getting another sleepover at G & G's tonight? I can tell you my kids would be THRILLED to be stuck at their G & G's in a snowstorm without us. :) Thanks for writing such a great blog - you really do a nice job.

The hardest part is waiting. I feel your pain of the wait. Those kind of appt. always take forever to get. Hope everything continues to go well for Colin!!
