not a month goes by without now brady, used to be aiden, asking to make something using their own ingredients.


monday mornings usually find me with aiden's class in his school library. today there was no library. today i had no plans. no plans can sometimes be good. you know where this is going.


no plans can sometimes not be good. i didn't even have a no for him today. i found myself instead just listening and reacting to all his requests. a big bowl. the big jar with all the big utensils. some ingredients. water. sugar.


it continued this way through overripe avocado, drinkable yogurt, brown sugar, instant oatmeal, half of a used lemon, way too old not at all firm vanilla tofu, rainbow sprinkles, mustard, red pepper flakes, stale mini marshmallows and mini chocolate chips.


if this was planned, i don't know that i would have included poor colin but you know what? he did awesome. kept it all in the bowl, shared, followed instructions, and learned a little bit dare i say too.
