thankful friday

• colin waving the white flag on his hunger strike. brett makes and i'm not being biased here, the best mashed potatoes. he should, he has had plenty of practice since we've been married. he makes them several times a week. for the past year, every single time he has made his mashies he serves some on colin's plate. sometimes colin plays with them and makes a mess, sometimes not even that. i don't think he's ever actually tasted them. last night, showing us he really is a big boy, he ate them all up! as aiden said, "he's turned to the dark side!". he also fought brett and i for the pancetta in our brussel sprouts.

• that aiden cried after telling me he accidentally broke colin's football birthday balloon. he felt remorse. he was afraid to tell colin what happened knowing how much he loved that balloon. i told aiden that his brother loves him more than a balloon and for him to let colin know how sorry he was. listening to aiden apologize to colin and colin making aiden feel better was one of those not too often around here, intimate brotherly moments.
