this morn i was looking through some of the classwork aiden brought home from school yesterday while he was sitting next to me eating his breakfast. i love (my) kid(s') drawings and how they usually need to be interpretted so i asked him to help me with some of these. they had to draw a picture for each of the senses, he drew:
see: pizza
touch: his dog
hear: birds
taste: his 6th birthday cake
smell: the (garlic) bread daddy makes
and in the box for his favorite sense he chose sight, "ce": a rainbow with a pot of gold at the end and mr. sun wearing glasses.
i loved this assignment for all these drawings and his favorite. i told him i was hanging it on the fridge because i liked it so much. :)
the rest of the morning usualness ensued. me reminding him to finish eating, to speak more softly as to not to wake everyone else (it's 7amish) and telling him to start getting dressed. he made his way to the window, which come to think of it is part of his morning routine as well, then called me over. this is what we saw.
it was as if God cued the rainbow. it wasn't out there long after he first spotted it. it wasn't out there much before because the sun was just rising. but in the little moment it was, he looked outside.
really nice way to start your morning, with rainbows. :)
