i went right over Thanksgiving didn't i?

that was unintentional. with my fridays i think you already know i'm thankful for a lot. i did think of another blessing though.

i still remember what i wrote 15 years ago in a good bye card i gave my brother when he moved to florida. the packrat that he is, i am sure he still has it. i said something to the effect of "...i'm pissed my kids will never get to know their uncle the way i do".

uncle kevin doesn't come home nearly as much as anyone wants him to, but he clearly has bonded with all his nephews, most especially aiden. a talked nonstop at times this past weekend in effort i know to catch up, make the most of it, and get in all he had to before his time was up.

when kev leaves i certainly don't shed a tear, i'm a big girl and he is still my brother afterall. but when my first born starts to withdrawal in denial, then says a really sincere goodbye and runs alone along side the car taking his aunt and uncle to the airport, waving wildly until he's reached the end of my parent's property well, that gets to me. sometimes, it's nice to be wrong.

so, what do your families do that's against the norm american thanksgiving?

we count bucks in the yard.

we throw them every fresh or almost rotted produce we can find. leftover pumpkins, apples, squash. their favorite is pear, did you know that? my father knows. some will also eat out of your hand. animal lover amanda can attest to that.

this week i've been hearing some things that went on this weekend without me knowing leading to thinking kevinandamanda not close does have some benefits. in church, i found out aiden pocketed a fivespot and offered up the single entrusting his guilt to aunt and uncle which they confided without repercusion. brady told me how uk told him how he can't pick his friends boogers. fortunetly or unfortunetly, unsure, i am able to translate what uk probably meant. the saying about friends, and noses, and the picking differences between them. shaking my head. yup see, they get to know my brother the same way i do.

some more colin goodness thrown in because since he's been adding a new word here and there he's kicked his cuteness notch up to a whole 'nother level.

So nice to get such special attention in your blog. I'd say the quality time I got to spend with the boys this Thanksgiving, ranks the 2008 holiday right up with the one where I brought Amanda home as my fiance.

Missing all of you, very much.

Uncle Kevin
