yesterday, new year's eve we woke to unexpected snow. only about 3" but enough to make it totally feel like a "snow day". the older boys basically get their snow stuff on unassisted now so they were out like lights and demanded brett put together the new snow sled santa brought them.

colin, as usual went through all the gloves, boots and hats to keep himself occupied and came up with my favorite hat for him although more of a toddler hat. now it makes him look like a knight.

he really cracks me up with him and his guns. he's not the only 3yo boy playing with them right? im not the only mom allowing her 3yo boy to play with them right?

these pictures crack me up, as colin always does. it's fun, for me to watch him all up in brett's business and being himself, watching brett get frustrated because he's concentrating...

they're both making the same face here.

almost done.

done!

poor colin, can't go out until mom and dad commit. he's too funny though bc right after this was taken he went and got his snow pants on, as well as his hat and boots. when i finally chimed in to help him seeing he was joining his brothers without me or not i saw he had nothing on underneath. no socks, no undies, no pants even.

then inside for hot cocoa. i made homemade marshmallows about 2 weeks ago. something i always wanted to do so now it's out of my system. recipe says they'll keep for 3 months so we're good for the entire winter i figure.

then back to the usual absolute silliness.

after colin's nap we headed out to do some real sledding. we went to a local school which has nice big hills. it was our first time since previous years i thought we'd be carrying back up the hill one too many kids. we all had a blast! brett popped the tube. colin would go when sandwiched. brady was the thrillseeker standing on the snow bike sled thing, aiden set the record for the farthest and i must admit i was actually scared before going my first time. oh man the rush of memories from when i was little and sledding at my elementary school. next time i'll bring the camera there.
