this summer hasn't been the best for the beach but it has for blueberries. primo picking conditions on yesterday's opening day where we go in PA. if you've gone bb picking before you'll know what i mean when i say i stayed in the same row the entire time. well i did stray into another once but only to get to the other side of some bushes. and i didn't have to go the entire length of the row even but i was being really greedy and picking only the biggest. love huge, blue, sweet yumminess.
i went into aiden & brady's room just before 7am, woke them gently and told them to 'use the bathroom quietly' (daddy and c were still sleeping) 'and meet me outside. aiden, you get your booster from the car'. they were not to get dressed and we'd eat breakfast on our way. mema & pop were waiting outside simultaneously.
brady's first year and he's accompanying me from now. he's a workerB.
we were originally going to all wake up at 4am and head to a (hot air) balloon festival. the summer's unreliable weather, while ending up to be fine, could not get me to commit that early though. maybe next year.
so midway to PA, brady still didn't know where we going.
he may have eaten as many as he picked.
45 mins was aiden's limit so they found a shady spot to sit, pick and eat (brady) while we finished filling our buckets.

The market around the corner from our house had "Jersey Fruit" Blueberris in 2 lb containers for only $2.99! I'm talking the BIG blue ones, without a sour one in the bunch. It really brought me back home, as I was able to dig in, two handfuls at a time, for the first time since I was a part of the picking party. Your post, also, really brought back memories. I would have LOVED to be there.
