i have this friend.
in highschool she used to make me strawberry shortcake(s). not individual sized ones, Multi. Layered. real cream strawberry shortcakes. an entire one just for me; several times, not just once. that's a bff.
as usual, i bought way too much fruit last saturday at costco, and i will do it again. aiden requested we make something with the strawberries today so i looked for recipes last night. so! for lunch we made strawberry & peanut butter turnovers. pretty fun activity for the 2-4 age group. they love using rolling pins so when i read you use one to flatten regular crustless white bread and that's something i have (the white bread) i knew this was going to be a hit. after putting the ingredients in your flattened bread and fold it over 'what shape is this?' into a triangle (i was on a roll with this one), they could then use the next coveted kitchen utensil to brush on the melted butter. into a 400 degree oven for 5 minutes, a few minutes later after cooling and no one liked it.
this is (one reason) why i don't cook.
fine. no snacks, no eating until dinner then. too harsh? where's the line then about not cooking three different meals at dinnertime, it applies to lunch as well right. i wasn't feeding them chicken livers.
they ate all their dinner btw. so they got to feel hungry for once.
btw i'm in a major behavioral and consistency (mine) bootcamp here.
anywho, so that the day wasn't a total strawberry waste, i made a strawberry shortcake too. an easy recipe. one i had lined up for the boys. only instead they played outside with brett. it just so happens to be my girlfriend's birthday tomorrow. the one who made them for me in highschool. (her sister reads my blog). happy birthday vic.
